Who We Are in God’s Eyes

A Daily Grace Devotional

 1-2 Minute Read

“For the one who was a slave when called to faith in the Lord is the Lord’s freed person; similarly, the one who was free when called is Christ’s slave” (1 Corinthians 7:22).

It is easy for us to determine our status by how we are seen by others. Paul wrote to slaves who had become believers. He told them that in God’s eyes they were free. He also wrote to believers who weren’t slaves but were free. He told them that they were Christ’s slaves.

His fundamental thought is that how society sees us doesn’t determine who we are. What really matters is how we are seen in God’s eyes. We may be at the bottom of the world’s social structure, but as believers we are part of the family of the King of the universe. We may be highly placed in the world’s eyes, but as followers of Jesus we are here to serve others.

Whether we are employees of someone else or own the store, whatever social status we hold in our world, we are honored by God. We are free in Him and we are committed to serving Him no matter what. While there’s something about human nature that cares how others see us, the most important position we can have is being secure in how God sees us.

What is a Grenade Launcher?

Grenade Launcher is a word picture we use to describe a ministry or person who creates and/or performs a featured grace grenade. Grace Grenades are selected as standalone items and are not a full endorsement of any other items or activities of a particular ministry or person. However, if a grace grenade is tagged with “Official Grenade Launcher” it means we recommend and are comfortable with their public offerings.
