The Power of the Cross

A Daily Grace Devotional

 1-2 Minute Read

“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross” (Colossians 2:13-14).

The search for spiritual reality ends at the Cross of Christ. From the time that Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden history was a relentless march to the Cross of Christ. That is where all God’s plans for His fallen and broken human race were fulfilled. When Jesus said, “It is finished,” everything necessary for our salvation was completed.

The place where Jesus died is the place where we gained the possibility of coming alive. As the Apostle Paul said, “God made you alive with Christ.” All of us had broken the law and were fugitives from justice. At the Cross God canceled the charges against us. The evidence of our sin and rebellion was nailed to the Cross and we are now free to live without condemnation.

In this chapter of Colossians Paul warned us not to fall prey to human wisdom and philosophies. They can’t save us. Salvation is only found at the Cross of Christ. It is there that we can find forgiveness of all our sins. The place where Jesus died is a special place for us. If you’re like me you come to it frequently in your heart and say “Thank You” for what Jesus did for us there. At the Cross we’re reminded that every blessing we possess isn’t because of our goodness, but because of Jesus’ goodness and what He did for us when He died in our place.

What is a Grenade Launcher?

Grenade Launcher is a word picture we use to describe a ministry or person who creates and/or performs a featured grace grenade. Grace Grenades are selected as standalone items and are not a full endorsement of any other items or activities of a particular ministry or person. However, if a grace grenade is tagged with “Official Grenade Launcher” it means we recommend and are comfortable with their public offerings.
