“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3).
Eternal life isn’t just a gift that we will experience some day. It is quality of life that begins the moment we believe in Jesus. The gift is ours the moment we come to know God by believing in His Son, Jesus.
Believing in Jesus opens to us the reality of true living. Our personalities aren’t eradicated. Our physical characteristics may remain the same. Yet, when we believe in Jesus there is something supernatural that happens inside us. Our spirits are brought into contact with God Himself.
Knowing God isn’t a matter of having more information. Knowing God describes a relationship. We may know about many people, but we really know those who are close to us. Christianity doesn’t mean that we simply know about God—many people have that kind of information. It means that we experience Jesus as our Savior and God as our Father.
That leads us to an understanding of Christianity. It is much more than theology; it is a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus. It is a new life. It is what really living is all about.
