“Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them” (Hebrews 7:25).
Most of us have started many projects that we haven’t completed. Maybe we simply lose interest or, in some cases, realize that we don’t have enough resources to complete the task. Jesus isn’t like that. He never abandons what He begins halfway through the project. When He saves us He saves us completely. He never starts something He can’t finish. When we come to Him, He begins a process that will continue for the rest of our lives and will end successfully.
Parenting doesn’t end at the nursery window when we look at a new baby. It involves a process of caring and nurturing that will last through a child’s development. It goes beyond teen years and continues for the remainder of a parent’s life. Jesus is like that. He doesn’t just save us and walk away. “He always lives to intercede” for us.
Right now He knows what our challenges are. He knows the weaknesses to which we are vulnerable and He is praying for us and intervening in our lives to insure that we make it. We are never outside His care and concern for us. Haven’t we all, when faced with difficulties, requested prayer from our friends? That’s the right thing to do. The wonderful thing about Jesus is that He is interceding for us whether we ask Him or not. He is that committed to our salvation. How can we lose?
