“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).

We live in a world that changes constantly. The weather changes, political changes take place and even people around us experience mood changes. We go to work hoping that our fellow workers will be in a good mood. That will make our days go more smoothly.

We know what Jesus was like yesterday. The Bible tells us and we have witnessed His love for us on the Cross. This Scripture says that He is the same today as He was yesterday and that He will be the same tomorrow. The Jesus of our yesterdays is our Jesus today and forever. Jesus, who sustained us in the past will sustain us today. If He were fickle and vacillating how could we know that we can depend Him? He won’t have a plan for our lives that He will abandon in the future. We can absolutely depend on Him.

When we read the Gospels everything we see about Him then is still true today. His love never fails, His mercy never ceases and He still seeks and saves the lost. He never changes. As the cliché says, “We can take that to the bank.”
