“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it” (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Sometimes it seems like living is walking through a mine field. There are traps ahead of us that we don’t see and dangers we don’t anticipate. Some believers live in fear of failure and wonder whether or not they can survive the challenges. Underlying those fears is our feeling that we are facing our trials and temptations alone. We are not!
Two thoughts in this verse give us confidence. “God is faithful.” At the core of every problem we face there is one unchangeable truth. God is faithful. We are not alone but we face our days with His powerful presence and He will never fail us. We can trust Him to see us through when everything collapses around us.
The other fact we can depend on is His promise to “provide a way out.” He screens our temptations so they don’t overwhelm us. He provides a way out. Yes, we can endure every trial, but it is only because God is on our side faithfully watching over us and providing a way for us to escape every situation. With God on our side we can handle anything life brings our way.
