“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” (James 1:5).
Life consists of a constant stream of decisions that require us to make choices. Much of our success and well-being depends on our making the right choices. If you’re like me you’ve stood at many crossroads in life wondering which way to go. Some of those choices are minor, like what will I have for breakfast today. But many are far-reaching, such as what will I do for a living and where will I live.
Many live life as though it’s a game of chance. We don’t have to live that way, though. We have a God who knows everything and He is willing to guide us through every decision we make. Wisdom is knowing what to do in a given situation. God will give us the wisdom we need if only we ask Him.
Will His guidance lead to our success? Absolutely! Paul explains God’s intentions for us in his letter to the Roman church, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). When we lack wisdom and ask God to give us direction He helps us make the choices that will be good for us.
