God Finishes what He Starts

A Daily Grace Devotional

“But in the days when the seventh angel is about to sound his trumpet, the mystery of God will be accomplished, just as he announced to his servants the prophets” (Revelation 10:7).

The Greek word “mysterion,” from which we derive our word “mystery,” doesn’t mean something that is hidden from us. It is something that was once hidden but is now revealed. God accomplishing His mystery means that He hasn’t kept us in the dark about His plans for the world.

While some things about the end of history aren’t yet clear to us we have been given important information already. God has announced His overall plan through His prophets. The entire Old Testament points to the final triumph of our God. Isaiah, in the last chapter of his book, tells about the new heaven and the new earth. Zechariah tells us of Jesus setting His feet again on the Mount of Olives.

Though there are details we don’t know about the final days of the world as we know it, we won’t be totally surprised because God’s entire revelation to us has pointed to His ultimate victory. When Jesus died for us on the Cross, He made that victory available to us. When the seventh angel sounds his trumpet the wrap-up of history will begin. We can celebrate in anticipation of that day.

We don’t sit now in suspense wondering how things will end. The prophets of the Old Testament, the inspired Scriptures of the New Testament and especially this book of Revelation have all revealed the overall picture of human history from its beginning to its conclusion. The future of the world is not in question, nor is our future. Jesus will reign and we will reign with Him.

What is a Grenade Launcher?

Grenade Launcher is a word picture we use to describe a ministry or person who creates and/or performs a featured grace grenade. Grace Grenades are selected as standalone items and are not a full endorsement of any other items or activities of a particular ministry or person. However, if a grace grenade is tagged with “Official Grenade Launcher” it means we recommend and are comfortable with their public offerings.
