“To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen” (Jude 1:24-25).
A question so many of us ask ourselves is, “Will I make it?” The truth about salvation is that it is secured by God’s power from the moment we believe into the endless ages of eternity. We won’t get to heaven and celebrate with, “I did it.” We know whose power secures our salvation. God’s power, made available to us through Jesus Christ our Lord, keeps us from falling.
The Methodist missionary, E. Stanley Jones, described salvation in terms of a mountain climber’s rope. The outer strands may fray but the inner cords won’t break. When asked about his faith he responded with that analogy and said, “I don’t hold onto my faith, my faith holds onto me.”
