“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).
When we love someone we want to please them. If a person is important to us we want their approval. There is nothing more satisfying to me on a personal level than the smile of approval from someone I love and respect. I strive for that!
How much more important is it that we please God? How could we possibly please someone who knows that we don’t value him? We can depend on a true friend to be reliable and we can be assured that he will keep his word. That is a foundation of a healthy relationship. It is senseless to think that we could please someone if we don’t take his very existence seriously.
How could we possibly please God if we act as though He is irrelevant. It is possible for a person to intellectually accept the existence of God but act as though He isn’t there and doesn’t matter. I never want to be that person!
God exists whether we believe it or not. But if we want to please Him it is important that we acknowledge Him and give Him His proper place in our lives. If we don’t regard Him as irrelevant but seek Him we gain the reward of a relationship with Him that produces immeasurable rewards.
